The Perfect Autumn Eye and why you need The Essentials eye palette from Clarins

‘The Essentials’ eye palette is Clarins’ new limited edition piece, which landed in stores last month. I mentioned it on Instagram before but it wasn’t until I published this picture that it got some serious attention and encouraged some eyebrow rising!

Yes, often you and I can feel like Clarins is all about nude shades, for those of us who like to play it safe with makeup. When suddenly here they give us a brilliant, bold & brave look!

You see, ‘The Essentials’ eye palette, which contains 10 natural shades from soft pinks, through beige to darker  shades of brown and black, can be used wet too. When you dampen your brush and pick up any shade, especially the darker ones, you’ll build an intense and bold look. Just like the one on the images above.

The Smoeky Eyes

The Essentials Eye Palette
I used only two shades; the black and the purple. First I applied the black shade by placing my brush gently and patting it over the eyelid. Next I used a blending brush to soften the edges and to achieve the smudged effect. When I was happy with the intensity and darkness, I used the purple shade (with a dampened brush) and applied it on top of the black. I placed it right in the middle of the eyelid. The idea was to achieve a slightly off black shade, with a hint of purple showing more in some light than others.

Wear this look with bold lipstick for maximum effect. I’m wearing it with Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in Berry Naughty and MAC lipstick in Rebel. You can use any darker lipstick with purple or berry undertones. They’re incredibly trendy this season so you’ll find one early even in the drug store if you haven’t got one yet.

Sensitive eyes? You’d be delighted to know that all the eyeshadows are ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested making them suitable for even the most sensitive of eyes.

Why Cardboard is Cool!

Now to the palette’s case. You know how you can never please everybody? You put a product in a pretty case, some are complaining it’s too pretty to use, too heavy or too expensive or… this, or that. This case is very simple, made of a cardboard-type packaging. Before you start complaining; why oh why?!  Because it’s not as luxurious as some others and Christmas is nearly upon us? But let me tell you why cardboard is cool!

The Essentials Mineral Eye shadows

You see firstly with this case – even the brush and the bristles on the brushes are made of recycled products. Secondly, Clarins is a very sustainable company and is committed to so called “responsible beauty”. This means it’s always trying to limit its environmental impact and protects biodiversity as well. Money obtained from the sales of this palette will help to finance the ‘Povos da Floresta” reforestation project, which is supported by Clarins. The Brand is aiming to plant 7,000 fruit trees to help Ashaninka Indians maintain their culture and autonomy. Now you see why I think this packaging is more than cool?!

The palette consists of 10 mineral eye shadows costs £35. It’s available on all counters, but as it’s a limited edition piece, grab it before it goes!

I actually think cardboard cushions the product from bumps and falls better than other packaging.
