PMD Microdermabrasion review – celebrity like complexion without visits to a salon.

PMD Personal Microdermabrasion Facial Exfoliating Device

Would you like to have celebrity like complexion without spending your cash for expensive visits to a beautician?

Great! Let’s have a look at there in home microdermabrasion.
Your PMD Microdermabrasion in a nutshell: is an in home microdermabrasion device to achieve salon like results. Regular use will reveal brighter, smoother skin. You’ll notice improvements in skin texture, brightness and appearance of fine lines and pigmentation.

Who PMD Microdermabrasion is for?

Anyone can use it, but if you have skin pigmentation, scars left by acne or even enlarged pores, using PMD will certainly benefit your skin. It won’t get rid of your skin dilemmas within the first use, but if you give it a couple of months you’ll start noticing results. If you’re concerned with more stubborn issues like deep scaring or hormonal pigmentation, be prepared it can take longer to notice satisfying results. You can use PMD only once a week at most that’s why you’ll have to wait a couple of months for visible results. Particularly if your concern is with scaring or skin pigmentation as this tends to effect skin into deeper layers and therefore is more difficult to treat.

What is microdermabrasia?

It might be somewhat a little stiff explanation but it tells you what it means exactly. This is what the dictionary says: microdermabrasion, a cosmetic procedure in which all or part of the stratum corneum is removed by light abrasion, used to improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin, treat hyperpigmentation, and reduce or remove scars. It is more superficial than ordinary dermabrasion, does not require anesthesia, and can be performed in less than an hour. The person may resume ordinary daily activities immediately afterward. Microdermabrasion works best for superficial lesions such as fine lines and age spots; deeper lesions require other treatments.

How does PMD Microdermarmabrasion work?

The small spinning disk with crystals removes very fine skin layers. To ensure its safe and you always remove exactly the same amount of skin, this spinning disk is hidden behind the cap. The device is using suction to gently suck your skin until it touches the spinning disk. The same suction helps to bring your blood flow closer to the skins surface, which encourages faster cell renewal and instantly helps to brighten your skin.

What does PMD Microdermabrasion do to your skin?

It evenly exfoliates a micro layer of your skin. When using your PMD ensure to only go over the same area of the skin once. At the same time the suction draws blood closer to the skins surface encouraging fast cell renewal. The result is fresh and radiant skin instantly. Exfoliating the micro layer with PMD Microdermabrasion gives you much better product absorption. PMD Microderm claims your products will be absorbed 20% better. Support your treatment with a skincare matched to your skin concern and you’ll see faster results.

Being a Guinea Pig – The case study!

I’ve been using PMD for three months now. I took my time before reviewing for two reasons.
I used it only every other week.

I used it twice with a training disk before I moved to a delicate disk.
I have sensitive and thin skin and I could feel it was doing its job. I was a bit clumsy at the start and moving the device around my face was a little tricky. When I used it for the first time I made a mistake and cleansed my skin with a cleansing balm to oil product. It left my skin gently moisturised and I found it harder to move my device along the skin. Afterwards I used gel cleanser or powder cleanser and both were perfectly fine to use before microdermabrasion. Occasionally I pressed the device into the skin rather than lift it gently and move along the skin. On these occasions it left the area with a little bit of redness.  It simply meant I performed on this area a little bit deeper exfoliation. Now it looks like I‘ve got to grips with it, I’m able to do my entire face quickly and gently. No more red stripes. It’s important to keep your skin stretched so it’s firm, it makes it much easier. On my forehead and chin I found its the easiest to work from the top to the bottom. Let your device grab your skin by sucking it and than move along your face very lightly lifting your PMD rather than pressing it into your skin.

When I noticed my skin getting congested I used my PMD and the next morning my skin was looking smooth and bright. You guys noticed the difference already after a month and started commenting on my Instagram images and asking about my skin routine.

I changed only a couple of things in my routine when I started using PMD. The biggest change was using microdermabrasion itself as it’s a powerful way of renewing skin instantly. I could immediately tell that the skin texture was better, more plumped and smoother. Next I was testing the new Dermalogica PowerBright range and this combined with the power of regular exfoliation must have had such a great effect on my skin. Finally I started using gentle enzyme peel in between my microdermabrasia treatments to maintain the result, not allowing for a build up of dead skin cells.
After my first and second use I wasn’t sure if I’ll continue to use my PMD only because I wasn’t very good at using it at the start. Now I’ve really got used to having my regular in home microdermabrasia I wouldn’t be able to be without it.

Is this a skin transformer!

Of course it can transform your skin but don’t be disillusioned! If you’re concerned with wrinkles and expression lines rather than overall skin appearance and texture, then perhaps you need a laser not a PMD Microderm device. It’s not a line eraser but it’ll smooth those too. Reducing a dry skin layer alone will help. You’d benefit from it if your struggling to remove post acne scars or bumps under the skin. Personally I found it amazing in removing under skin bumps, which wouldn’t go away with the use of just a regular scrub. Investing in a device like this could be a fantastic add on to your skincare routine. It’s a fab investment if like myself you can’t afford regular visits to a salon. If you like to invest in good skincare using a device like PMD or even cleansing your skin with Clarisonic will allow better product absorption. Better product absorption means better results.

What you’ll find in your PMD box?

Your new PMD Microdermabrasion will come with a white training disk already attached and an appropriate security cap already attached. In the box you will find spare disks. Dark blue- delicate and light green, moderate. Those disks will come in two sizes. Small for the face and bigger for the body. In your box you’ll also have a spare security cup with a wider hole. Use it with the bigger body disk. Finally there’s a charger and a starting DVD. You must watch it! It’s very helpful and will teach you everything you need to know before you start using this device.

FYI

You don’t charge your PMD instead you must use it with your power supply plugged in and attached. It needs extra power to support suction and spinning of a disk so it doesn’t operate on chargeable battery.
I hope this will give you a good idea if this is for you and if it’s worth investing in. Priced at £150 it’s not cheap but it’ll pay off very quickly if you’re considering a series of salon microdermabrasia treatments.

I just found it on offer at Currentbody.com for a £135!!
