Clarins Summer 2014 makeup review + video

ClarinsSummer2014collection This season Clarins summer collection; Colours of Brazil brings us warm earthy shades from eyeshadows to lip crayons. The entire collection looks and feels wonderful. Textures are divine to play with. All the products look spectacular on the skin. In January I filmed my first impressions of the Clarins spring collection. This time I decided to have a play with the products first. Now, I’m able to show you how to use all of them to achieve spectacular results. I’ll talk you through the products, textures and the outcome. Before we look at the video let me just talk you through what’s in the collection:

Limited Edition Summer Bronzing Compact.

This is my second summer bronzing compact from Clarins and as always it delivers a beautiful and smooth result. It warms your complexion with the blend of softening brown and terracotta. Beautifully packed and embossed with a South American inspired motif it looks and feels luxurious. It comes in a big compact and for £30 it’s an absolute steal.

Limited Edition Lip Balm Crayons.

ClarinsLipBalmCrayons When I tried these I tossed all my other lip crayons and lip balms into the very button of my makeup drawer. Sheer luminous colour with shea butter that hydrates like lip balm. You’ll have enough colour just like a slick of a sheer lipstick but with the added shine of a gloss. I have 3 shades and love them all. I’m even tempted to grab a couple more before they go. This is a must-try lip product for any lipstick addict.

Limited Edition ‘Colours of Brazil’ Quartet & Eye Liner Palette.

ClarinsColoursofBrazilPalette In this gorgeous palette you’ll find beautiful warm shades of rich brown and bronze to represent the sandy beaches of Brazil, then a vibrant royal blue and coral that is supposed to mirror the colour of the sea. Two of the eyeshadows are matt and two are satin shades. These shadows can be used wet or dry. Use them wet for more intense colour. The coral shade brings the eye colour out and the royal blue liner adds definition and complements the look. All wrapped up in lovely packaging, slid into a velvet pouch with a couple of makeup looks included. I always used to say that browns are boring but with this collection I had to eat my own words. Just watch the video and you’ll see for yourself.

New Truly Waterproof Mascara will stay for good.

This is the only product that has launched with the collection but is staying for good. It certainly delivers intense colour to the lashes and the finish is very glossy. It gives both volume and length, with a 12 hour makeup hold. Designed to protect your lashes from the harsh effects of salt water it’s infused with bitter orange tree wax and squalane from olive. A waterproof mascara can be a true pain to remove even with appropriate makeup remover. The new Truly Waterproof Mascara stays on, doesn’t crumb and comes off with a face cleansing oil. Of course a waterproof makeup remover takes it off within just a couple of minutes and not much of rubbing is required. Now have a look at all of those beauties in action. Are the Colours of Brazil for you?

This season Clarins has some exciting online exclusives. My favourite is the Truly Waterproof Mascara in shade 02 Curacao – a turquoise blue. And if you like to sparkle in the sunset after a day on the beach, you should check out the Splendours Shimmer Body Oil. It contains fine, golden pearls to leave a beautiful veil on the skin which illuminates and enhances a tan, with no oily feel. This has no glitter and I think it makes a gorgeous addition to any skin type. I had a chance to try it on and thought it was sensual and subtle. It will just look stunning on the décolletage.
