‘Beautiful Skin’ face wash review.

Since the day I found out about Beautiful Skin by No7, I was eagerly awaiting the launch in order to try out their new face washes.

We very often underestimate how important a face wash is and concentrate rather on face cream. It’s true that a good moisturiser can turn your skin around but in my opinion a good face is equally important.

Beautiful Skin by No7 claims that it can give you perfect skin in 2 easy steps (a face wash followed by a moisturiser, no toner in-between). I already talked about the fact that there are no toners in the range and why they did that in making the products. You can find out more about toners here.

In the latest range, older products have been reformulated alongside the introduction of some new products. So why was I so keen to try the face washes out and not the new moisturiser? I think it’s actually very difficult to find a good face wash that will cleanse your skin thoroughly without over-drying it and making it feel uncomfortable.

You should have seen my excitement when I received my No7 packet. Unfortunately most of the Cleaning Water for Normal to Oily skin leaked in the post :( but luckily there was just enough left for me to give it a go.

First I tried Foaming Cleanser for Normal/Oily skin. The whole range is created to help oily skin behave like normal skin. This is a soap free foaming cleanser and yes, you can feel it cleansing well. I felt very refreshed and clean after using it. I would definitely recommend it for those of you with oily or combination skin which gets quite shiny during the day (or at least a bit on the T-zone), otherwise you might find it leaving your skin feeling a little bit tight, which in my opinion shouldn’t happen with a well suited face wash.

Melting Gel Cleanser for Normal/Dry skin is my personal favourite. You can find this type of formula in some of the Luxurious brands so I’m very happy to see No7 introducing one too. I am very impressed with this product. You can use it on damp skin but personally I think you will get better results if you start on dry skin. Just apply a 20p size to your palms and blend all over your face. You should be massaging this product until you will feel the gel is melting and changing into oil. Oil is generally perfect to melt and lift all the dirt, make-up and impurities from your skin. Once it’s turned to oil you can wash it off with warm water. With water this product will change its texture into a milky toner/water. You just wash it all away and your skin will be left feeling so soft and smooth that you will probably feel like you don’t need a moisturiser. I’ve been using it for about a month and I would definitely recommend this product.

Finally, Cleansing Water. I left this for last as it is not available to buy at the moment. As most of it leaked in the post, I was left with just small amount to try which is a shame as it’s another cleanser which took its inspiration from Luxurious brands like Clarins or Lancôme and would have been good to properly compare. With the amount I did try, I quite liked using it in the morning, it was enough to refresh my skin and prepare it for the moisturiser, however I didn’t like to use it in the evening to get rid of all my make up. I just thought it was taking too long to remove everything. This product has been recalled by the company due to customers complaining that the liquid wasn’t clean (you could see little bits flying in the bottle). There was apparently nothing wrong with the product formula itself. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

There are also some other products in the range like Cleansing lotion for Normal/Dry skin or Cleansing Balm for Dry/Very Dry skin, which I haven’t tried as I can only give you an honest opinion regarding the products that are suitable for my skin type. All cleansers are priced though at £9.

I will stay on the look out to what No7 will bring out next. It looks to me as if the brand is trying to build a new image by being more innovative and creative with their products. I am not surprised though, as competition in the cosmetic industry is fierce.

I also have some inside knowledge about a very exciting body product that will hit the shelves soon. I was speechless for a moment when I saw it for the first time and I can’t wait to put my hands on it!! Don’t worry I shall let you all know what it is and if it’s worth buying as soon as it is officially announced. If it’s as good as it looks, we are going to have amazing bikini bodies this summer ladies.
