My New Year Resolutions and how you’re going to help me achieve them!

This year I decided to take my New Year Resolutions seriously so I choose four that mean a lot to me. By the end of the year I would like to tick them off my list and write a proud blog post, that despite so much pessimism around New Year Resolutions, I managed to achieve my goals. Will power is going to play the main part! So my resolutions this year are very personal! It’s all about self-development.

Firstly, I would like to learn something new. A new skill that may come handy in my everyday life.

Secondly, I would like to learn to prioritise and give enough time to things that are important to me. I promised myself to put more energy into my blog, as it is my little baby. My blog means a lot to me, I enjoy writing so I would like to make it even better and more entertaining for all of you.

My third resolution is to read a few good books. One of which everyone should try to read in their lifetime. I would like them to be about London, set in London or by famous London writer. Has anyone got any good suggestions?

Last but not least, my fourth and final resolution. This one is very important and probably will be the most difficult for me to achieve. I want find a way to relax more, looking after myself, mainly my health. It may sound a bit ridiculous but I do need to learn to relax. If you ask me I can tell you all the ways to relax at home, but do I do it? Hell no! I never stop! I keep doing things till the very last minute of the day, when my legs are refusing to hold my body in a upright position and my eyes are half closed. This makes me feel incredibly tired, I am not resting enough and I don’t think I sleep well. I used to sleep well and wake up fresh but not anymore and this has to change!! I would like the more chilled me back please!

I’d like you to join me in my challenge! What are your resolutions? Let’s try to do it together. Here is my plan…

Every last Sunday of the month I will be telling you how am I doing, and I would like you to do the same.

Simply share in a comment box

  1. What have you done this month to achieve it?
  2. Have you been consistent or naughty more than once?
  3. How does it make you feel?

Hopefully by sharing it publicly we will find even more “will power” to succeed. So who is in??

My new Year resolution is to learn to play the piano and although this is very ambitious, it would be cool to be able to play a Christmas song by 25th of December 2012!
Have I achieved any part of this yet???? NO, But in my defence I work Full Time and have been sorting out selling our flat and buying a lovely Victorian flat in a different part of London. My energy levels are pants because of my LONG days at work, blah blah blah….excuses excuses excuses I hear you cry! Yeah kinda, but its real life. Funny though as the place we are buying has a piano in it! Is this a clear sign? Always the optimist,I know I will achieve my goal, but do need encouragement to help me along the way. Also I dont fancy learning on a keyboard, I want to feel the clonk of the keys under my fingers and there nothing more emotionally driving than a haunting piano sound. Anyway, goodluck to all who joins this,I cant wait to see how you all get on. Shamina….first things first go shopping and buy lots of lovely juicy fruit, yoghurts and cereal and juices ,breakfast will be worth getting up for xxx

    1. To look after my skin by not drinking fizzy drinks or eating chocolate
    2. To spend less money and buy wisely!

    Hello!

I just came across this post, and I know it is old, but if you are still looking for classic books set in and around London, I recommend the Palliser series by Anthony Trollope. There are 6 books, (here is an overview http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palliser_novels) and I actually read them out of order, starting with The Eustace Diamonds. They are beautifully written, insightful about human nature, describe the era beautifully, and can be quite funny at times.

    Best regards,

    Natalie
